I'm big with the geriatric set
So I recently decided to try a little harder at the dating thing. With a little encouragement from a few friends, I signed up for some online dating sites. I have mixed reviews on the experience. Different websites generate different results. On one particulare site I seem to attract 2 different types of men. One type doesn't speak English. Men keep sending me emails and profiles that are not in English. These men all get the delete key. The second type of man is, well, how do you put it politely? WAY TOO OLD FOR ME. These men have no business whatsoever attempting to engage a woman half their age in conversation. And yet they do. So I give you the following three pictures. Guess which one of these men sent me an "e-rose" today.

I've done something today I've never done before in my 10 years of blogging here. I've deleted the post that was here, but I...
I'm hoping it was chest hair guy, though, I sort of think the answer is all three.
ReplyDeleteooh, so many choices. So many e-roses.
ReplyDeleteI think you should give chest hair guy a shot if for no other reason than to blog about it. I'm sure it would be very entertaining. Heck, give all of them a shot!
ReplyDeleteAre my blogs so bad that my friends actually want me to go out with these men??
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing leather jacket guy sent the e-rose.
ReplyDeleteA concern, judging from the dated hairstyle AND the dated jacket AND the fact that he was at least 40 whe the photo was taken... he's what... 60 now? (points for being handsome in the day - points taken away for being stupid enough to pose for that shot! )
I also love the shot of the gray haired guy who is obviously walking his DAUGHTER down the aisle... his DAUGHTER who is probably YOUR age! Har! (har to him, not to you!!!)
And let's not leave the other guy out... who told him the up-the-nose shot was his most flattering picture?!?!?!?!?
Arggh! I feel your pain.
When you posted that story about how you found your glasses in your favorite shoes I laughed. Then I cried. You're right. How could a date with chest hair guy be any more entertaining than that!

ReplyDeleteThe Year of Yes
Newsweek review:
As a student at New York University in the late '90s, she [Maria Dahvana Headley] applied that advice to her love life, turning down most men who asked her out and dating only intellectual, literary types. Frustrated by those guys, she reversed course, resolving to spend one year responding positively to all flirting and saying yes to literally anyone who asked her out. The ensuing 150 dates included a homeless man, several non-English speakers, 10 taxi drivers, two lesbians and a mime.
Headley's memoir of the experience, "The Year of Yes," is now in bookstores, and Hollywood's already calling. She urges other people to say yes more often, despite some horrible dates. (One guy took her to a bar that, it became clear, was a strip club—and that's a tame example.) "Lots of women are pretty set in what they think they have to have in order to be happy, but it doesn't hurt to date people who are not that," she says. It worked for her: during her dating spree, she met a playwright who was divorced and 25 years older and had two children—baggage that would have ordinarily nixed his chances. They married in 2003; now 28, Headley lives in Seattle with two teenage stepchildren. "It's something I never would have picked, but it's turned out to be this kind of amazing experience," she says.
for those still reading this post- it was the up the nose man. although, each of these men did view my profile.
