Last week I got to visit with Deborah, a good friend from DC, while she was out here visiting. She's an SLC native and gave me the tour of SLC that I've always needed. We had a good time being girls out on the town. It was great to have a bit of DC back, be with an old friend, finally get to learn more about this city I live in, and just have a night out.
Then it was Sunday and I dared to attend the over-30's singles ward. (They do exist! And there was only a regular smattering of freak shows.) Just as my nerves were kicking in and I was about ready to give up and go back to my family ward and hide, a guy came in and sat next to me. It was my friend Eddie from back in DC! I enjoyed catching up with him and having a safety blanket to hold on to while figuring out the new ward. (4 Relief Societies and 5 Sunday School classes! And they dare call this congregation of 500 a branch!)
And then tonight I went to visit a friend in need of a little love and attention. And while visiting her, another of her friends showed up and insisted on taking us to dinner. And that friend just happened to grow up in DC and attended my rival high school. Albeit he graduated when I was 4 years old, but that isn't the point. The point is, we got to talk about Old Ebbitt Grill, Georgetown, and other fabulous DC places.
I love DC. I miss it!
