I Sing the Songs

Y'all, I had my first voice lesson today in over 10 years. Maybe even longer than that.
And it was awesome. I'm so much more motivated to sing and go through with some upcoming auditions now. In just one hour the vocal coach managed to produce new tones and quality out of me that I didn't know I could make. It was exciting.
I grew up singing. I was on a stage performing nearly once a week from ages 12-18. I was always good choir stock, but never a soloist. It took years for me to develop a good musical ear, and it had to be taught. It didn't come naturally for me. And then my voice didn't change in my late teens like it does for most girls. My voice took its dear sweet time and waited until my late twenties to finally change and develop. And of course by then I wasn't singing very often. So in many respects, I'm just now really coming into my matured adult voice. And I love it. I was never able to sound or sing like this before. I can do things now that I could never do when I was younger with my voice.
It's an exciting journey. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.
