I think I just got Wooted.

 

A few days ago my mother and I were discussing the size of the house I wanted to rent. She pointed out I would have a lot of work ahead of me to clean and vacuum such a big house. My reply? "Ooh, I can finally justify getting a Roomba!" 

Later that same day I put up the same thought on Twitter. You can even see where I said it right here.

So today when I saw the Woot was a Roomba, I was pleasantly surprised. Although, I am saving up for the deposit on the house still, and therefore, I can't afford a Roomba quite yet. (These foster kids I don't have yet are getting very expensive I tell you!) But I love to read the humorous Woot product descriptions, so I read it anyway, knowing I wasn't buying.

And then I saw my name. And all I thought was, "Oh wow, I wonder what kind of coding they did to put people's twitter names on their page like that?"

A minute later I got an email from someone saying, "Hey, you might want to check out Woot today."

I replied, "Yeah, I saw the Roomba, but I can't buy one quite yet."

But then I remembered, he doesn't know I want a Roomba. Or does he?

So I sent another friend a link to Woot, and asked them what they saw. She doesn't have a Twitter account, so I was curious what name would appear for her.

But she saw my name.

So I asked another friend to look, but didn't send her the link.

And she saw my name too.

And then I remembered what I twittered.

And holy canoli, Batman.

I think I just got Wooted. 

Do you think they would give me a free Roomba for using my name like that? (sidenote, since midnight I have had an unprecedented 17 new followers on Twitter. Coincidence? I think not.)

After all, the Roomba would be going to a good cause! My life with foster children budget is not going to be what you may call extravagant!

Sunday Morning Shout Outs

I am the Wooting Sleepwalking Queen

My love for Woot.com knows no bounds. This is a well documented fact. Earlier this week I got really excited to see a red blender on a regular woot, and had to buy it. Why? Because I have all red small appliances, and really wanted a red blender. Duh. On Wednesday at work we were discussing companies we all love and therefore want to do business with. I mentioned Woot, and then had to explain the beauty of the Woot. (They all love it too now.) I said at that time that my spidey sense was tingling and I felt a woot off coming. And sure enough, there was a HUGE one the very next day.

So of course, all excited about rebate checks and pay raises, I found myself gleefully participating in the woot off. I made 2 more fun purchases (both items I have wanted for a long time) before the excitement was over. But we're going to wait until Mr UPS Man in his hottie shorts shows up with my beloved woots before telling you much more.
But just let it be known, I do love a good woot off. It was a lot of fun. Especially since I had my co-workers in on it, and we were alerting each other to good deals all day.

In other news, who knows what happened last night, but maybe I was dreaming about a woot?
I think I must have done some sleepwalking again. I set 2 alarm clocks generally, and keep both of them out of reach (to force me to get out of bed). This morning my first alarm clock went off considerably earlier than usual. I turned it off and attempted to go back to sleep. But no luck. So I finally got up and that's when I realized I wasn't wearing my pajamas anymore. I found those on the floor by my door. (which means I must not have just kicked the pants off in my sleep, cause if I did that they would just be by my bed.)
I got up and got ready for work and quite some time later realized my second alarm hadn't gone off. I went over to investigate it, and it was completely turned off. That was also when I realized I had laid an outfit out on my bed. Not a good outfit. And not something appropriate for work, I might add.
But that was all.
Strange.

Fueling the Shopping Addiction While Stuck in Bed

While I've been stuck living such a boring and low-key life this past month I've been pretty much forced into relying on the internet for entertainment. I thought I'd share some of the places I find amusement. And by amusement, I mean places to spend more money.

1. I've shared Woot.com before. I still continue to love it. I've now bought my original mp3 player, speakers that go with my mp3 player, and a bluetooth. And still haven't spent $100 on their site yet.

2. Next is for all the outdoor enthusiasts like me who can never have enough gear. It's called SteepandCheap.com . It is the outlet venue for Backcountry.com. It works like Woot, more or less. Except that it never stops. They put up a product only for a few minutes, until it sells out, and then it is gone forever. Most products are 50-80% off, and very affordable. I bought a shirt on Thursday night this week, and it was delivered by UPS on Friday (they are Utah based). The shirt is great, and I'm a convert. If you check out the site and find yourself addicted, I recommend downloading this. It makes your addiction much easier to manager.

3. Now the next site is my favorite one of all. I shared it with the girls over on LDSLinkup, and none of them seemed to understand the beauty of the site. That made me sad. How could they not understand the joys and beauty of getting vintage and real designer handbags at affordable prices? The site is called Bag Borrow and Steal.com and with a membership, you RENT designer handbags. It sounds strange at first. And I haven't actually rented anything yet. But I have put about 50 purses on my wish list. If you know me, you know I LOVE LOVE LOVE my purses, and go through a dozen a year. I covet many different designer bags, but because I don't allow myself credit cards, I don't buy them. (Because I am otherwise too cheap to spend $1000 on a bag.) In no particular order, these are my three favorite purses on their site.

4. I've also been up to the usual eBay and Bluefly shopping. Only one new dress and a new pair of designer cord pants that way so far.

Me and My Woot

I joined the rest of the world today with the arrival of my first woot. It's a Samsung Media Player, with lots of gadgets and things I don't think I'll ever use. But so far, I love it. I've put a few hundred pictures and nearly 1,000 songs on it. And rumor has it I can put driving directions on it somehow. Maybe someday I'll find a 10 yr old who can show me how to do all of that.

Yes, I know I look awful in the picture. But let's see you do any better after a week (and still going) of being on bed rest with massive kidney pain. But isn't my woot cute?

Things I Can't Live Without (Apparently)

I stayed at home sick from work today. The kidney stone has actually let up quite a bit, but the side effects of the Percoset kept me sidelined and miserable all day.

So what do you do when you are too sick to really do anything? And the only position that is comfortable is laying on your right side without a pillow for your head?

No, really, what do you do?

Thankfully I had new Netflix to watch, so that kept me partially entertained for 6 hours. And then I started wooting. Wooting? Yes, wooting. Wooting is now my new favorite and most addictive hobby. Basically it works like this, on the site www.woot.com there is one product for sale at a time. It's usually something of a techie or electronic nature. And they sell it for a ridiculously low price. How low? REALLY low. For instance, earlier this week I found this little gem on woot for a mere $39 plus $5 shipping. I quickly went to Amazon and found it on sale there for $129. Obviously, woot was a good deal. So I bought it. Of course, the part where I didn't have a compatible mp3 player was irrelevant. At the time I was thinking eBay or a gift for someone else.

So today while stuck here on the couch, on my side, with my laptop tilted to the side, I spent several hours today watching cool stuff go by on Woot. Woot only has a set number of items they are going to sell. (For instance, only 100 robots, selling at $5 each.) So sometimes things go by FAST! I tried to buy several different things today- mostly gifts. And then fate came home to me, and I saw THIS and didn't even wait to check it against Amazon. Even tech-deficient Erin knows that a video and mp3 player for $49 is a good price. And now it is MINE! (Insert evil laugh here.)

Yes, wooting was a big part of the day. But credit must be given to my DVR player (I call him George) (the kidney stone's name is Horatio) (it's fun to yell 'Muerte Horatio!' when it really hurts) for keeping me from going too stir-crazy today. How did we ever survive without DVR/TiVo's? I've been watching lots of Project Runway and Gossip Girl today. I now feel that my wardrobe is inadequate.

I just heard that we may get 10-16 inches of wet snow down here tomorrow. This is not good. My house is short on good food that I can handle eating. And I'm already going stir-crazy. I hate being sick.
