Despite the Vatican's prohibition against eating meat on Fridays during Lent, Catholic bishops in about one-third of the country's 197 dioceses have issued a one-day waiver of the rule, citing the benefits of Irish American tradition and community. Not to be left behind, the Mormon Church Bishops have lifted its ban on drinking beer in honor of St Patrick's Day for all those of Irish descent. "Finally, a chance to sin and not get in trouble," Patrick McBride said after hearing the news.
