Careful what you Google

I've mentioned my love hate love affair with my statcounter before. I'll mention it again.
Tonight I checked it out of curiousity. And made a few unpleasant discoveries.
1. The guy I mentioned in the "bad guys finish first" post below, somehow, the very next day Googled me. And I can see that he sent a link to the blog (but at least not that post) to someone else. I truly hate that person. Actually, I probably truly hate both of them. You know whatever it was they said about me in that interaction wasn't a pleasant thing. They aren't mature enough for such things. Shallow people stay shallow. But that doesn't change the fact that it still hurts me to know that someone I have never hurt most likely did something unkind regarding me this week.

2. There's a small town in Texas where I can safely say I only know one person. And that person isn't someone I want to open up and share my life with. Someone in that small town Googled me this week as well. I can't say for certain that it was that person, but really, what are the odds?

3. My stat numbers were down big time on Friday. What?? Don't you people love me anymore? My usual daily numbers are up around 60-80 people a day. But on Friday only about 40 people checked in. I feel so unloved.

And something like a spectacle.

Maybe I don't want to blog anymore.

I kind of want to set up a mirror blog on blogger just to be able to get the usability of a blog's sidebars and the statcounter function to see google results. Right now, my statcounter only lets me see where the last 100 people are coming from and how many hits I get per day, not referral sites or linkages. Which is something that, as my blog grows, I'd really like to see.

My friend told me recently about how Windows Live lets you blog to multiple platforms at once, which would solve that problem of going from place to place. He uses it to post to LJ, MySpace, and Blogger all at once. This may become my project for the afternoon. Though perhaps cataloging my books some more might become the winner for that slot. Thanks for the invite--Goodreads is interesting and makes me wonder how it differs from LibraryThing.

  2. Maybe you don't want to blog anymore? Maybe, you should take a break from the stat counter? I know its your precious but......

I left my cell at home yesterday and didn't get home until after 7:00 or so. My mouth hasn't healed quite yet and was pretty sore last night. Maybe dinner later in the week? I have plans Thursday but other than that I'm free. Oh, do you want to go to that party in Ashburn? I have a new goal of doing 3 social things each week that don't involve Kelli exclusively.
